For those on the path to becoming Registered Behavior Technicians® (RBTs), one burning question often lingers in the back of your mind: What is the pass rate for the RBT® exam? It's a natural curiosity to have. Knowing the pass rate can offer insights into the level of preparation required before you start studying.
While it would be nice for those of us who are studying to be an RBT® to know what the percentage pass rate is for the exam, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board®, or the BACB®, does not currently release their criteria for pass/fail rates.

As you can see, in 2022, 77% of those who took the RBT® exam passed on the first try.
Even though the percentage needed to pass the RBT® exam is not public knowledge, there are other ways you can prepare for the RBT® exam to ensure you will pass. The most important thing you can do when starting to prepare is make a plan. Make sure you study the current task list, take a practice test (also called a mock exam), and discuss with your supervisor with any questions you might have about the ABA material.

While it would be nice to know what percentage you need to achieve on the RBT® exam in order to pass your certification, that data is not public knowledge. However, with hard work, dedication, and the right study tools at your fingertips, you will be able to pass with flying colors!
